semi-apochromat water dipping objectives have long working
distances. They offer good image flatness and high transmission
from the visible to the near-infrared region of the spectrum.
These objectives are used for fluorescence imaging of brain tissue
and measurements of the cell membrane electric potential using
patch clamp electrodes.
